Centuries before the events of Breath of the Wild, the Sheikah tribe served as the loyal guardians and technological innovators of Hyrule. However, when King Rhoam feared their power would lead to another Calamity, he ordered the banishment of the Sheikah and the abandonment of their ancient shrines and Divine Beasts. A faction of these outcasts, consumed by bitterness and a desire for revenge, broke away from the peaceful majority to form the Yiga Clan.

They pledged unwavering allegiance to Calamity Ganon, believing that only his return could restore their honor and punish those who cast them aside. To survive in a world that shunned them, they developed the art of disguise, learning to blend seamlessly into society as merchants or travelers before revealing their true nature with a sudden, lethal strike. Their mastery of teleportation and shadow magic allows them to strike from nowhere, making them one of the most elusive threats in Hyrule.

Despite their sinister reputation, the clan is led by the flamboyant and sometimes comical Master Kohga, who commands his foot soldiers with a mix of intimidation and eccentricity. While they possess advanced technology inherited from their Sheikah ancestors, such as teleportation devices and specialized armor, their true strength lies in their fanatical devotion to a cause that has long since consumed their identities.

In Their Own Story

The wind howled through the Gerudo Desert, carrying with it the scent of dust and impending rain. Link adjusted his hood, eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of the merchant caravan he sought. Ahead, a lone figure in yellow robes waved enthusiastically, offering water and fruit from a small cart. 'Welcome, traveler!' the man called out, his voice trembling slightly with false cheer.

Link approached cautiously, hand resting on the hilt of his sword. The merchant's eyes darted to the side, and suddenly, the friendly smile vanished, replaced by a cold, slit-pupiled gaze. 'You should not have come here,' the figure hissed, raising a curved sickle that glinted in the fading light. With a flash of purple energy, two more figures materialized from thin air behind Link, their faces masked and expressions grim. The ambush had begun.
